POLYURETHANE PAINT
(2-PACK)
Polyurethane paint is otherwise known as 2-pack. It is a form of paint in which doors and panels are sprayed with. Polyurethane paint is commonly used spray painting vehicles. Although it is a hard finish, 2-pack can be easily chipped and scratched similar to a vehicle's paint work. It is the premium of all material selections and comes in various levels of gloss (from velour up to 100% gloss)
THERMO-FORMED (VINYL WRAP)
Thermo-formed is otherwise known as Vinyl wrap. It is a form of plastic which is heated and morphed over MDF doors. Once cooled the plastic takes its shape wrapping the door and profile. Thermo-formed doors are rigid and so chip resistant however do not have a long life span. They will generally last the length of the warranty and nothing more. It is the mid-range of all material selections and comes in various levels of gloss (from velour up to 100% gloss)
LAMINATE
Laminate is a form of decorative sheet glued and compressed onto MDF board or Particleboard. Laminate doors are the most hard wearing above all other materials. It is both strong and has a high chip resistance. It is the budget-range of all material selections and comes in various colours, textures and finishes. The down side to laminate is that it is not manufactured in profiled doors. Laminate is typically a flat door with no internal profile or external profile. Common brands of laminate include LAMINEX, FORMICA & EGGER.
TIMBER VENEER
Timber veneer is a thin slithered sheet of timber glued and compressed onto MDF board. Veneer doors are designed to replicate solid timber, however are a cheaper option which resembles timber. It is in the mid-range of all material selections and comes in various timbers including black-wood, Jarrah etc. The down side to Timber veneer is that the door profile does not match the timber itself and requires painting.
SOLID TIMBER
Solid timber speaks for itself and is exactly that. It is lengths of solid timber glued together to make a flat board. From these boards a profile can be routered internally or externally to the desired shape. Solid timber is 100% natural timber and comes in various timbers such as Pine, Black-wood, Jarrah, Oak etc. Depending on the timber selected will determine the price of this material. Some timbers are plentiful and cheap whilst others are rare and costly. Solid timber doors are very hard wearing.
